BRIEF ABOUT LEARNING DISABILITY

Struggling learners tend to have a pattern of real strengths and weaknesses in their underlying skills, causing them to over-rely on their strengths.

Learning means acquiring information

Ability means physical and mental potentiality to do

Disability means problem in physical and mental ability.

A kids in classroom is sitting and watching projector if child has visual acuity problem then it's eye related impairment but same student has good eye acuity despite that have difficulty to understand the content then it's learning disabilty.again here lack of interest is different thing.

Learning Disability (LD) means difficulty in aquisition of information.

LD solve their problems by intuition not by logic or creatively .(Frontal lobe does problem solving)

dyscalculia doesn't have number sense, mental maths, sequencing and organising & mathematical operations.Poor time management and money handling.

Dyscalculia can't read calender eg if asked how many Mondays are there in January child won't be able to answer.

LD is not about lack of interest in studies,Study related Anxiety or Study related Boredom.

LD have issue with working memory , executive functionings and visuospatial skill .

Dyslexia is no more word blindness cos it doesn't have phonic awareness.

LD is not right brain dominant (strength vs weakness) right brain depicts creativity and spatial skills although brain decide the lateralization.

Dysgraphia is all about disorganised writing eg child will copy from black board answer 1 question 2 question 1 answer 3,

also spelling disorganised eg child will copy wrong spelling from blackboard.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is about obsessive thought that gives anxiety and compulsion is the action done to reduce anxiety. it a cyclic process hampering daily living/routine.
